A promise of action on health inequalities.

I am seeking election as a Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Governor as I am keen to work towards reducing health inequalities in rural areas such as East Hampshire. As a Governor working in partnership with other statutory and voluntary organisations  I will seek to  promote, protect and demonstrably improve the health of the communities served by the Royal Surrey County  Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

I am a Councillor for Alton (Amery) on Alton Town Council and East Hampshire District Council. I am a Registered Social Worker currently working in an integrated health and social care team for Adults with Learning Disabilities. I work alongside community nurses, occupational therapists and physiotherapists on a daily basis.  I am Chairman of East Hampshire District Council’s Health & Wellbeing Panel. I have previously been Cabinet

member for Corporate Governance  and hope to use that experience to support  my fellow Governors in areas such as ensuring good governance structures, mechanisms for delivery of good quality services within resources available, exploring  joint working and commissioning opportunities and monitoring key indicators and outcomes.

I am a keen supporter of my local voluntary Patient Participation Groups and the valuable role they undertake in health promotion.

I am an Equalities rep for Unite the Union.

Membership of other organisations:

East Hampshire Disability Forum, Alton Dial-a-ride,  Road Safety Council, Alton Almshouses management committee and Local Government Association Workforce Board.
